One of the reasons this site was created was to provide residents and visitors one web site that contained everything they wanted to know about our area and community.  Several sections have been updated recently.  We hope you find the new information useful.

New Area Maps - Several new maps have been added to the maps section.  The aerial photos with streets provides a unique perspective on our area.  The contour map with streets extends from the north of Yachats to Ten Mile and a good distance to the east.  It provides a dramatic sense of the vertical relief of our area.  And finally, the Gerdemann Garden map provides a detailed view of this remarkable site.

Reference Section - Many people are not aware of the range of information available in this section.  Visitors are encouraged to examine the list of topics and to explore areas that interest you.

New Brochures Available
Brochures for Yachats City Trails and the new Wetland Park are now available. They are available in City Hall, the Visitors Center, and on this web site under Attractions. In addition, a second link for trails is under Maps

Gerdemann Garden - View the Future recently hosted a community celebration at the Yachats Commons to honor Jim and Janice Gerdemann.  The images below were taken in their garden in early March.  To learn more about the past, present, and future of the garden, visit the Gerdemann celebration page.  View the Future has kicked off a campaign to raise $1 million for an endowment to fund a sustainable maintenance and education program for the Garden.  If you are interested in contributing to the preservation of the garden, tax deductible donations are welcome.  Jerry Sand has prepared a nice diagram of the garden that provides a better understanding of the scope the site.

June Blooms in the Gerdemann Garden

Mushrooms - At this years Yachats Mushroom Festival I met an OSU graduate student working on mushroom research.  His photos of these plants were fascinating, varied, and in many shapes and colors.  He has consented to allow his photos to be shown on this site and in return I have agreed to help him raise a little money for his research.  For more information, take a look at the mushroom page under Photo Events.

Yachats Movie Night - The Friends of the Commons are offering free movies in the Commons.  Movies are shown the 3rd Thursday of each month.  If you would like to be notified about the movie being shown each month, click here and send a blank note with the words "movie night" in the subject line.  Your e-mail address will be added to the notification list.  For more information about Movie Night, click here.
