David Robinson was born in Mexico and began his career at an early age after placing two years in a row as a finalist of the Carlo Morelli National Competition. The National Opera Company of Mexico subsequently engaged him to perform as a soloist in opera, operetta, oratorio and zarzuela. Mr. Robinson received a Fulbright scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies in the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He also attended the Israel Vocal Arts Institute, where he performed in a successful gala concert with the New Israeli Opera. Some of the companies and theatres with which he has performed in the U.S. are Palm Beach Opera, Connecticut Grand Opera, El Paso Symphony, Opera North, Opera San Josè, Sarasota Opera, and in Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center) among others. He has participated with the Metropolitan Opera Guild and toured the United States as Camille in The Merry Widow and Sid El-Kar in The Desert Song. <>As the winner of the Alta Classica Vocal Competition, he is engaged to appear in a series of recitals in the New York area. Other competitions include him as a U.S. Finalist in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Austria. His most recent recording with Albany Records includes Romeo in "Romeo & Juliet" by Boris Blacher. He recently performed successfully at Carnegie Hall with Opera Orchestra of New York in Marino Falliero and also sang the lead role of the El Barberillo de Lavapies in Town Hall in New York. His performance of Julian in the Zarzuela La Verbena de la Paloma with the Jarvis Theatre in California was filmed for PBS and televised nationally. Upcoming engagements include an international and U.S. tour with the Teatro Lirico Europeo and New Jersey Verismo Opera asDon Ottavio (Don Giovanni); Contemporary Compositions by Women Composers at Pulse Ensemble Theater on 42nd Street Theater Row in NY; Duke (Rigoletto) with the Taconic Opera in N.Y.; the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda with the International Music Festival in Xalapa (Mexico); Mozartís Mass in Cm with the Symphonic Orchestra of Xalapa; and a series of concerts in Germany and recitals in the U.S. and abroad.
