Turner

ANTHONY TURNER was born in Des Moines , Iowa and began his formal training at the age of 15 at Drake University . He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Simpson College in Iowa and a Master of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati .

Mr. Turner has been guest soloist with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Omaha Symphony, the Bronx Arts Ensemble, the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus and the Center City Chorus of New York City. Recent engagements have included performances with Opera Ebony in Opera and All That Jazz at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the roll of William Henry in Harriet Tubman by Leo Edwards at the Hochstein Performance Hall in Rochester , NY . He was guest soloist with Boston Musica Viva in The Creation by Louis Gruenberg.

In recital engagements, Mr. Turner has performed in Washington , DC ; New York City , Indianapolis , St. Louis , Dayton and Cleveland . He toured the United States and Europe with performance artist Laurie Anderson in Songs and Stories from Moby Dick , was featured guest on the PBS "Great Performances" series Aida's Brothers and Sisters: Black Voices in Opera , and was a recitalist for the Inaugural Concert at the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in Cincinnati .
