Bryan Young - Praised by The Doublereed Journal for his "voluptuous sound," Bryan Young is a recent prize winner of the Fernand Gillet International Bassoon Competition.

Bryan made his solo debut at the age of 18 with the National Symphony Orchestra and has since appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, in recital at the Kennedy Center, at conferences of the International Double Reed Society and in concert halls around the world. The Washington Post has lauded his playing, raving that "Young makes his music dance with lightness and grace, as well as with a sparkle uncommon for his instrument."

Bryan is the principal bassoon of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and is a frequent guest artist with the IRIS Orchestra in Memphis. Bryan is a member of the preparatory faculty of the Peabody Conservatory, is a founding member of the Eastwinds Quintet, currently quintet-in-residence at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, and the Francis Poulenc Wind Trio.

Bryan owns University Web Services, a firm he founded in 1999 to provide software services to the medical industry. He serves on several artistic and charitable boards in Baltimore. He has been awarded the UBF Achiever of the Year Award and would like a Grammy, please. Bryan trained at Peabody with Linda Harwell and at Yale with Frank Morelli.

Bryan's interests include filmmaking, travel, long walks on the beach and anything fast.
